Digital technology use and the experience of time across Europe

Presenting our findings at the Timing Research Forum 3 under blue skies in Lisbon, Portugal


Marc Wittmann and Christine Schoetensack, two TIMED researchers from our German and UK teams shared our first cross-cultural qualitative study at the Timing Research Forum 3 in Lisbon, Portugal. We discussed the process of collecting and analysing interview data from 300 people residing in six different European countries and presented our findings revealing how people across Europe felt about time spent with digital tech:


The conflict between our need to fill or save time with digital tech and the feeling of our time being “stolen” by unproductive digital activity that takes our temporal awareness away turned out to be highly relatable among conference attendees.
